Wade is the son of Thomas “Vincent” Grant Nicholson and Erma Mae (nee MacDonald) and spent his formative years in Nova Scotia and PEI. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at age eighteen and was assigned to Princess Patricia Light Infantry, 3rd Battalion where he progressed through the ranks to the rank of Sergeant at age twenty three. During his time with PPCLI he received extensive training at various bases in Canada and overseas. He served proudly as a member of the United Nations Peacekeeping force in Cyprus.
After receiving an honorable voluntary release in 1986 from the Canadian Armed Forces, Wade relocated to Alberta and began a second career in the oil and gas industry. He began as a roughneck and through hard work and dedication to his trade he progressed to the position of Rig Manager.
After the loss of his wife, Deb, to cancer in 2005, Wade changed careers once again to Red Seal Millwright and was employed by Shell Canada until relocating to PEI in 2014 to be close to his family.
Wade began his employment at St. Dunstan’s Basilica in May 2015.
